From collection to testing, GSABC works to establish contracts that yield a positive return for its member blood centers and suppliers. Currently our contract portfolio includes more than 700 agreements through our partnership with Consorta/HPG. GSABC applies a multi-source approach to its own contracting. Our objective is to contract with at least two market share leaders in critical product areas in an effort to provide members with competitive pricing.
GSABC’s methodology for building contracts that meet the needs of members includes:
- Leveraging extensive member assistance to negotiate “technical preference” contracts such as testing reagent agreements
- Specifying terms and conditions in our contracts, often negotiating tiered pricing for aggregate and/or center volume
- Ensuring contracts address termination, technical out, upgrades & new products, supplier qualification, warranties & indemnification, freight, training, price protection, and favored pricing
- Utilizing legal expertise for contract review and in negotiations for major agreements
- Surveying or projecting potential purchases to negotiate contracts on aggregate volume for blood center core products.
