HemaShare is GSABC’s Resource Sharing Network. Through HemaShare, GSABC members can ensure that their communities always have the right blood supply at the right time. This network provides GSABC members with an outlet for any excess blood units that are not used locally. GSABC offers long term contracts for blood center members who find themselves “exporting” or “importing” blood or blood products on a regular basis. GSABC handles all invoicing, payment and collection as well as contract negotiations, and provides back-up support.
HemaShare also features an Exchange system. This email-based system allows GSABC “exporting” members to list ad hoc units for placement in other communities. In addition, “importers” have ability to issue urgent messages and emergency appeals to our network of participating members. This allows members to request specific units or to relay urgent needs due to specific patients or local disasters.
Finally, HemaShare also offers member-to-member cooperative agreements for members who prefer to conduct independent transactions but wish to be covered by a common agreement.
