In 2006, GSABC negotiated a new agreement with Octapharma that brings GSABC members the best prices in the marketplace. As a result of GSABC’s negotiations with Octapharma, the price for recovered plasma rose significantly in 2006, GSABC has had the price leading plasma contract for the past five years. Consequently, other fractionators not associated with GSABC have been forced to follow our lead by raising their prices, which benefits all members of America’s Blood Centers.
We also added a dedicated staff person, subsidized by Octapharma, to serve as a liaison between participating member centers and the global plasma fractionation company.
